We were over the moon to be selected by Destination North East England and NewcastleGateshead Initiative, to work on a project creating assets to help showcase the North East region and its experiences to national and international audiences. We were selected to shoot within the Durham area, working closely with the team at Visit County Durham, who we have worked with previously on an award-winning national campaign. The chance to get to showcase our brilliant, diverse and beautiful region is always a pleasure. This work is to be used both locally, nationally and internationally to encourage visitors to come and explore County Durham and some of its unique attractions.
Shooting involved an exciting mix of both stills and drone photography. Interestingly, all of our models were volunteers who put themselves forward after a successful social media campaign by Visit County Durham, who had appealed to find the next face of Durham.
Our locations covered everything from the iconic Bowes Museum, Low Force Waterfall and Seaham Hall to Durham Indoor Market, Ushaw, chocolate making in Coxhoe, the peaceful Durham Dales and even paddle boarding in the North Sea.
It won’t have gone unnoticed that we didn’t get much of a summer this year, so we were presented with a few challenges on this shoot. A tight deadline meant the show absolutely had to go-on. When up against it, it’s the years of experience that works in your favour, as well as an arsenal of lighting kit that can, just about, make the sun shine anytime, anywhere. The end results speak for themselves: beautifully lit and composed images of happy people enjoying themselves in our stunning County Durham. What a wonderful place. Pay us a visit, but don't tell everyone.
