We've worked with Sims Images on several projects and have provided them with excellent photography for some time. They insist on creativity, consistency, reliability and of course exceptional photography, which is exactly what we are all about, so when this shoot came about we jumped at the chance.
Photography was needed to publicise the launch of a much anticipated electric scooter rental system in Newcastle city centre. Various iconic locations were utilised and even “Miss Newcastle” was on hand as the chosen model for the shoot. Grey skies and wet roads didn’t dampen the enthusiasm, we used portable off-camera flash to add shape and feel to the shots and Sims’ excellent post-production editing skills resulted in beautifully atmospheric photographs which made the bright orange scooters pop-off the backgrounds of the famous locations in and around Newcastle.
After the stills had been used for the launch campaigns we were called upon once again to shoot video. This time, the weather was kinder and we were able to film the scooters on Sunderland sea front and riverside. Our two man team was able to use gimbal, slider and fixed video cameras supplying both A roll for primary filming and also B roll for supplementary footage. The secret weapon of the shoot was kept under wraps until the last scenes were to be filmed: our tandem bicycle was unloaded from the van and videographer Tony, equipped with a video camera on a gimbal, was positioned on the rear seat while photographer Andy rested his cameras to steer and power the craft along the riverside. With the models on electric scooters following we got some beautifully smooth footage that just wouldn’t have been possible without the use of our ‘mobile dolly”. Members of the public were treated to an awesome display of formation riding and Sims duly edited the video clips and a fantastic final result was achieved.
